Rafael Aceves y Lozano

Rafael Aceves y Lozano (20 March 1837 – 21 February 1876) was a Spanish composer. He studied at the Madrid Conservatory, earning a gold medal in 1863. He was especially known for his sacred music compositions of which his Stabat Mater is the best known. Together with a colleague composer, Llanos, he composed the opera Puñal El of misericordia in 1869, with which he was again recognized with a medal. He went on to compose a number of zarzuela, including La bola negra, Sensitiva (1870), a collaborative composition, El trono de Escocia, with Manuel Fernández Caballero, and El Testamento Azul with Francisco Asenjo Barbieri. He also wrote the opera El manco de Lepanto - Episodio histórico en un acto y en verso (1867) in homage to Miguel de Cervantes, telling the story of the writer's captivity and release in Argel. He also composed a parody of Cristóbal Oudrid's El molinero of Subiza entitled El carbonero of Subiza.

Pietro Abbà Cornaglia

Pietro Abbà Cornaglia (20 March 1851 – 2 May 1894) was an Italian organist, concert pianist, and composer. He was born in Alessandria, where he lived his entire life. Cornaglia studied music with his stepfather Pietro Cornaglia before attending the Milan Conservatory from 1868 to 1871 to learn piano and composition. His teachers included Antonio Angeleri and Lauro Rossi. After graduating, he toured as a concert pianist before becoming the organist for Alessandria's cathedral in 1880, a position he would maintain until his death. There, Cornaglia founded a music school and conducted the cathedral's orchestra. Cornaglia composed numerous works for piano, organ, and chamber music. He wrote three operas, Isabella Spinola (1877), Maria di Warden (1884) and Una partita a scacchi (1892), none of which were successful, and two books, Sulla introduzione del canto popolare in tutte le masse di comunità, e specialmente nella scuola (1880) and Impressioni d'un viaggio in Germania (1881).

Josef Wagner

Josef Franz Wagner (20 March 1856 – 5 June 1908) was an Austrian military bandmaster and composer. He is sometimes referred to as "The Austrian March King".He was born in Vienna on 20 March 1856, at that time the capital of the empire of Austria-Hungary. He studied with Johann Emmerich Hasel and, in 1874, he joined the band of Austrian Infantry Regiment No. 23 led by Philip Fahrbach jnr.As military bandmaster he served in 1878–91 with Infantry Regiment 47 in Trento in Tyrol, Vienna , and Marburg (Maribor) and Graz in Styria. Then in 1891-1899 with the Infantry Regiment 49 in Krems near Vienna, Mostar in Bosnia-Herzegovina and Brno in Moravia. During its stays in Krems and Brno, his military band often travelled to Vienna to give concerts and, in 1900, he set-up his own band there.Wagner composed approximately 500 works, mainly dance music and marches. He is best known for his 1893 march "Unter dem Doppeladler" (Op. 159) or "Under the Double Eagle", referring to the double eagle in the coat of arms of Austria-Hungary. The march became a favourite part of the repertoire of American composer and bandleader John Philip Sousa, whose band recorded it three times. The piece was the official regimental march of Austrian Artillery Regiment Number 2 until its dissolution in 2007.Wagner is also known for the march "Tiroler Holzhackerbuab'n" (Op. 356), or "Tyrolean Lumberjacks". María Rodrigo Bellido

María Rodrigo (20 March 1888 – 8 December 1967) was a Spanish pianist and composer. She was the daughter of Pantaléon Rodrigo, and studied music at the Madrid Conservatorium under José Tragó for piano, Valentín Arín for harmony and Emilio Serrano for composition. Maria was the first woman to have her opera performed in Spain. Her sister Mercedes Rodrigo was equally intelligent, being the first woman from Spain to obtain a degree in psychology from the Rousseau Institute in Geneva. The two left Spain for Switzerland during the Spanish Civil War, moved in 1939 to Bogota, Colombia, at the invitation of rector Agustín Nieto Caballero, and in 1950 to Puerto Rico at the invitation of José María García Madrid. With Pablo Casals, Rodrigo founded the Puerto Rico Conservatory of Music. She died in Puerto Rico in 1967. Maria was one of the few composers that addressed the composition of zarzuelas, a genre of Spanish music.

His son is the conductor Michail Jurowski, his grandsons are Vladimir Jurowski (born 4 April 1972) (also named Vladimir Michailovich Jurowski) and Dmitri Jurowski (born 1979), both conductors. He married the daughter of David S. Block (1888-1948), conductor, organizer, the first director of the National Orchestra of Cinematography of the USSR, and a member of the Jewish Anti-Fascist Committee.

Jason Charles Beck (born 20 March 1972), professionally known as Chilly Gonzales or just Gonzales, is a Canadian musician, songwriter, and producer. Currently based in Paris, France, he previously lived for several years in Cologne and Berlin. Gonzales’ career spans numerous genres. He is known for his rap albums, his collaborations with pop musician Feist and rapper Drake, his albums of classical piano compositions (including the Solo Piano trilogy), and for his collaborations with electronic musicians Daft Punk and Boys Noize, the latter of whom he also produces under the moniker Octave Minds. In 2022, he and Plastikman released a piano rework of the latter's 1998 minimal techno classic album Consumed in collaboration with Canadian musician Tiga, titled "Consumed in Key".Gonzales broadcasts a web series Pop Music Masterclass on WDR, the documentary Classical Connections on BBC Radio 1, The History of Music on Arte, and Music's Cool with Chilly Gonzales on Apple Music's Beats1 radio show. He has written several newspaper and magazine opinion pieces in The Guardian, Vice, Billboard, and others. He is the younger brother of film composer Christophe Beck. Gonzales won a Grammy award for his work on Daft Punk's 2013 studio album Random Access Memories.

Alexander Kobrin

Alexander Yevgenyevich Kobrin (Александр Кобрин) was born March 20, 1980, in Moscow, Russia. He is a music teacher and pianist. At the age of five, he enrolled in the Gnessin Special School of Music, where his primary teacher was Tatiana Zelikman. When he turned eighteen, he enrolled at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory, as a student of the legendary teacher, Lev Naumov.He holds a graduate degree from that institution. As a teenager, Kobrin won several youth piano competitions, but he won his first adult competition, the Scottish International Piano Competition when he was 18. The next year, in 1999, he won the Busoni Competition, after several years in which the first prize had not been awarded because no competitor's performance had been deemed worthy. In 2000, the year, Yundi Li was the winner, Kobrin was third at the XIV International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw. Kobrin later won the top prize at Japan's Hamamatsu competition. In June 2005 he won the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. Among his prizes included a $20,000 cash award, a compact disc recording, concert tours, professional management both in the United States and Europe, a professional attire stipend and subsidized travel in the United States. Even before his Cliburn victory, Kobrin maintained an extensive schedule of engagements in Europe and Asia. He has performed with the Moscow Virtuosi, the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, the Virtuosi of Salzburg Chamber Orchestra, the Moscow State Symphony Orchestra, the Rio de Janeiro Symphonic Orchestra, the English Chamber Orchestra, and the Osaka and Tokyo Symphony Orchestras. Since then, he has performed with countless other orchestras, including The New York Philharmonic, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Dallas Symphony Orchestra, and many more. Kobrin has received many exceptional concert reviews, including The New York Times stating that "He surrendered neither the smoothness nor the dynamic fluidity that the modern piano allows, and he gave his sense of fantasy free rein ... creating an almost confessional spirit."Kobrin is especially interested in the music of the classical and romantic periods. He has recorded an all-Chopin compact disc along with the compact disc of some of his performances at the Van Cliburn competition. Quartz Music and Centaur Records have produced many well-known recordings by Kobrin, including his most recent Complete Chopin Sonatas album. Kobrin formerly taught at the Gnessin State Academy of Music in Moscow, but in the fall of 2009, he relocated to the United States. He has taught at the Schwob School of Music at Columbus State University and the Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development at New York University. Kobrin joined the piano faculty at the Eastman School of Music in the fall of 2017. Starting in the fall of 2023, Kobrin will also be joining the faculty at Università della Svizzera italiana in continuing education piano department. He continues to perform, mainly as a soloist and chamber musician, and frequently appears as a jury member at international piano competitions.
