Louis Marchand

Louis Marchand (2 February 1669 – 17 February 1732) was a French organist, harpsichordist and composer. Born into an organist's family, Marchand was a child prodigy and quickly established himself as one of the best known French virtuosos of his time. He worked as organist of numerous churches and, for a few years, as one of the four organistes du roy. Marchand had a violent temperament and an arrogant personality, and his life was filled with scandals, publicized and widely discussed both during his lifetime and after his death. Despite his fame, few of his works survive to this day, and those that do almost all date from his early years. Nevertheless, a few pieces of his, such as the organ pieces Grand dialogue and Fond d'orgue have been lauded as classic works of the French organ school.

Friedrich "Fritz" Kreisler (February 2, 1875 – January 29, 1962) was an Austrian-born American violinist and composer. One of the most noted violin masters of his day, and regarded as one of the greatest violinists of all time, he was known for his sweet tone and expressive phrasing. Like many great violinists of his generation, he produced a characteristic sound which was immediately recognizable as his own. Although it derived in many respects from the Franco-Belgian school, his style is nonetheless reminiscent of the gemütlich (cozy) lifestyle of pre-war Vienna.

Born in Rome, he was brother of director Roberto Rossellini and father of producer Franco Rossellini. He died in Monte Carlo. He composed the scores of his brother's films, and others such as The Children Are Watching Us and Il segno di Venere. He also wrote several ballets, oratorios, cantatas, four operas—La Guerra (1956), Il vortice (1958), Uno sguardo dal ponte (1961), L'Annonce faite à Marie (1970)—, symphonies, chamber music, and songs.

Heikki Theodor Suolahti (2 February 1920 – 27 December 1936) was a Finnish composer. Suolahti was born and died in Helsinki, where he studied under Arvo Laitinen in Helsinki from 1929 until his death. In 1935, he composed Sinfonia piccola, which was first performed in February 1938 under Tauno Hannikainen. Hannikainen also orchestrated some of Suolahti's songs. Sinfonia piccola was published in the United States in 1959. When the composer died at the age of 16, none of his works had been performed publicly yet. He left the opera Pärttylin yö and a few other works unfinished. Suolahti, a huge admirer of Richard Wagner, was promised a trip to the Bayreuth Festival in the summer of 1937, but he died soon after Christmas 1936. Jean Sibelius was fascinated with Sinfonia piccola and praised it to Suolahti's mother after the composer's untimely death.

Evelina De Lain (born Evelina Renatovna Pronskaya on 2 February 1977 in Zhovti Vody near Dnipropetrovsk, Ukraine) is a London-based classical and jazz pianist, composer, author, performance coach, educator and producer known for her crossover composition style. De Lain began studying music at the age of five, and by the age of 14, she was teaching music to younger students. She gained her diploma with distinction at M. Glinka Conservatoire of Dnipropetrovsk, specializing in solo piano, chamber music, and accompaniment.
